IGQ (Istituto Italiano di Garanzia della Qualità) is a certification body founded in 1985 with the endorsement of CNR.
It is a non-profit association recognized by the Ministero delle Imprese e del Made in Italy .
IGQ was the first quality system certification body in Italy and the first to achieve accreditation by SINCERT (now ACCREDIA).
The focus of the activities of IGQ are the main national industrial sectors, such as the mechanical and metal industry. IGQ therefore operates in the sectors of basic metals and metal products, manufacture and installation of machinery and equipment, as well as industrial and civil constructions, engineering and professional services, wholesale trade, information and communication technology.
IGQ is a founding member of CISQ Federation and thus is part of the international network IQNET (International Certification Network), present in more than 35 countries and represented by more than 100 local organizations.
The organizations certified by IGQ may therefore employ the international certification mark of IQNET.
IGQ is also a founding memebr of Conforma the assoociation that represents the 20 main Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) operators in Italy. IGQ is part of the CISQ-Automotive consortium, one of the selected group of international certification bodies authorized by IATF to certify the quality systems of automotive suppliers according to IATF 16949.
IGQ is accredited by Accredia for product certification according to ISO 17065, and notified by the Italian government to the European Commission for CE marking verification activities (notified body n. 1608).
Beyond certification, IGQ offers advanced training courses and often organizes and participates to public initiatives for the promotion and diffusion of the culture of quality.
In 2012 IGQ has also obtained accreditation from ANAB (ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board) to issue certificates for quality and environmental management systems and, in January 2015, the accreditation for occupational health and safety certification.
IGQ operates as a verification body of Greenhouse Gases Emissions according to the European Directive 2003/87/EC “Emission Trading”, based on the ISO 14065 accreditation issued by Accredia.
